Making Mochi

A student took me to a mochi-making gathering in her neighborhood this morning. Mochi is a rice treat made by pounding rice until it is sticky and smooth. Flavorings, including sweet red bean paste, are then added.
About five dozen people met on the grounds of a neighborhood shrine to make mochi and to roast sweet potatoes in a bonfire. I’ve posted a few photos.
I’ve also posted photos of a bike trip I took yesterday.

  1. I really think that that mochi is really great but what is the best about eatting mochi is that you can make all differnt kinds of mochi. All so its not only fun to eat it its fun when you make can put all kinds of food colorings in side of it and make it look differnt colors to. But my all time favorit thing about mmochi is that when you eat it it is like you can hear the cheach bells ringing in or ears because it is so good. It is like if you took a bite into heaven!!!
