I’ve posted pictures of our trip to Osaka, Kyoto and Nara. I’m not sure when I’ll get around to writing up an overview of the trip; might not be for another week or so.

in the mortal words of paula abdul, (yes, the one who brought you such hits as straight up and forever your girl) there is only three words to describe the pictures of your trip. . .” fab- u -lous!” those were some really incredible photos mike, who knew?
–any more photos of japanese grafitti? those are really your best work.
Absolutely amazing pictures, Mike. Thanks for sharing them with us. It was fun to see many of the same places we visited in 1981. Did this trip rekindle some old memories?
Yeah, I definitely remembered Kiyomizu in Kyoto and Osaka Castle. Same with Daibutsu in Nara, and the little passageway in the pillar that Grandpa squeezed through. We passed the zoo in Kyoto that you mentioned in your diary of that ’81 trip — where Tama, Heather and I all wanted to see the animals rather than more temples (I don’t remember this episode, but maybe I have selective memory of my more petulant childhood moments).
Mike, it wasn’t just your grandpa that squeezed through the pillar at Nara. Your mom and I both did it too–seems like it was among a horde of very young children.
We’re off to Australia tomorrow morning–and the next day–and a good part of the next. It’s going to take us forever to get there. I’ll try to send emails.
